Ashtons Hospital Pharmacy Services, the UK’s leading provider of specialist pharmacy services to independent healthcare providers, is delighted to have entered into a partnership this spring with St Joseph’s Hospice, the largest and one of the oldest hospices in the UK.
St Joseph’s Hospice was founded by the Sisters of Charity, who came from Ireland in 1900 to care for the poor and dying of East London. They opened the doors to the hospice in 1905. To this day, the hospice provides high-quality, specialist palliative care and support to people with life-limiting illness, both in the hospice and in people’s own homes or care homes in the community.
Ashtons has more than 25 years’ experience in promoting the safe and effective use of medication and will provide St Joseph’s with a comprehensive range of services. This includes medicines management support and clinical audits, provided by specialist clinical and palliative care pharmacists, the supply of medicines, innovative IT solutions such as Ashtons Live View, as well as e-learning and training seminars, and assistance with CQC compliance. The most recent addition to Ashtons’ range of services is its electronic prescribing and medicines administration system, Ashtons e-Works.
Tony McLean, Chief Executive of St Joseph’s Hospice, said: “We are delighted to be working with Ashtons as our new pharmacy provider. They have extensive experience in medicines management, and as one of the leading pharmacy suppliers to hospices in the UK, we are confident that our patients are in very safe hands. Their team really understood our hospice and recognised areas where their experience could help us develop our medicines management practices and enhance patient outcomes.”
Yachna Tak, CEO of Ashtons, said: “We are very proud of this fantastic new partnership with a hospice as historic as St Joseph’s. This is a testament to our commitment to helping hospices ensure their patients receive the very best palliative care treatment cost-effectively. We continuously innovate to add value and help our hospice clients maintain and surpass the high standards of medicines management they must adhere to.”
